Proper attic ventilation systems allow a continual flow of outside air through the attic, protecting the efficiency of the insulation and helping to lower temperatures in the living space. It consists of a balance between air intake (at your eaves or soffits) and air exhaust (at or near your roof ridge). The FHA recommends a minimum of at least 1 square foot of attic ventilation for every 300 square feet of attic space.

It is estimated that 9 out of 10 homes in North America do not have proper attic ventilation. In the summer, improper ventilation can cause attic heat to build in excess of 160 degrees Fahrenheit. This super-heated air eventually penetrates the ceiling insulation into the living area below. In the winter, various household appliances, bathtubs, showers, and cooking vapors can contribute to excess moisture build-up. Improperly ventilated attics allow this moisture to collect and cling to the underside of the roof. The moisture will condense and fall, soaking the attic insulation and reducing its efficiency.

Other types of damage that can result from improper ventilation include:

  • High energy costs
  • Premature aging of your shingles (as much as 50%)
  • Warping, cracking or breaking down of wood framing
  • Damage to siding, exterior or interior paint, and wallpaper
  • Mildew growth

New Leaf Roofing will analyze your ventilation requirements for both intake and exhaust to ensure you achieve the maximum life from your shingles and the lowest possible energy bills. We offer a wide variety of products in order to present you with a customized solution to meet your specific needs.

How It Works

By placing Polaralum face down under flat roofs and/or pitch roofs, its properties reduce the amount of energy and radiant heat that enters your attic and ceiling cavities. The heat of the suns energy is deflected back through whichever product is installed over the Polaralum system. POLARALUM Typical Thickness Properties

During the summer, this product acts as a radiant barrier and thermal barricade on roofs. During the winter months, it helps in deflecting cold temperatures, which helps reduce the amount of heat escaping through the ceiling.

This product has been tested in the United States and all results have been documented and certified by Factory Mutual, a world renowned organization and testing facility.

  • Tested to a wind uplift rating of 140-150 mph.

Remove Hot Stale Attic Air
Save Energy - Reduce Cost

Extend your roof's life.
Save you money on air conditioning.
Reduce the chance of ice damming.
Make your home more comfortable.
Prevent mold growth and fungal decay

The SunRise is a unique, solar-powered vent fan that pulls the heat right out of your attic.

It's so effective it can lower attic temperatures by as much as 50!

This means less heat dissipating back into your living area, less drain on your air conditioning system, and less cost to you. In fact, up to 30% less money spent on air conditioning costs alone!

In the wintertime, the SunRise helps equalize the temperature between the attic inside and the outside air. This dramatically reduces the risk of ice dams forming at the eaves--a feature that could save you thousands.

Reduces moisture build-up and prolongs the life of your roof. Even in newer homes that use vapor barriers, moisture can still sneak into the attic and condense on framing boards, roof decking, and insulation.

The problem may be even worse in older homes that have settled and developed cracks or air leaks around bathroom exhaust fans or light fixtures.

SunRise forcibly expels this warm, moist air, helping prevent the growth of mold and mildew, and significantly reducing the chance of rotting the roofing materials.

Just one SunRise is powerful enough to protect an entire home.

SunRise uses the most advanced, flexible solar panel to collect and deliver power directly from the sun to a highly efficient DC motor inside the power vent. The SunRise 850 can service up to 1200 sq. feet of attic space, while the SunRise 1050 can service up to 1600 sq. feet. Its non-breakable panel collects solar energy even in reduced light and poor weather conditions and provides maximum cooling effect when its needed most--in the middle of the day. It operates without fuel, waste, or pollution and is wind, hail, and impact resistant.

Replace your turbine vents with these solar powered roof ridge and attic exhaust ventilators. Ventilation never was as cost effective and efficient.

The SunRise comes fully assembled and can be installed in under an hour. It requires no electrical hook-up.
